A beautiful but dangerous city. Detective Agency AdvertSaid to be the most dangerous in all France! But made safer by this modern detective agency:

The Mafia play here. There are police, but not very many. Four at the last count and three of those were guarding the Mayor!

A previous mayor has skipped the country with the city coffers!

Places to visit include:

  • the Promenade des Anglais

  • large shopping areas

  • a beautiful flower market

  • a pretty port

  • Mount Boron

  • Willy Wonka's Pink House (From "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory")

  • restaurants to suit every taste

Fountains in the centre of Nice at the Place Messina.

This is Nice airport with the river Var, in front left, and the city of Nice behind. In the far distance, just visible on the right is the deep water anchorage of Villefranche.

Take a trip on the Petit Train starting from the Promenade des Anglais. Buy a single ticket only and get off when it stops at the top of La Colline du Chateau.

No chateau here but an ex-castle, flattened by a French King when the Nicoise (the inhabitants of Nice) got uppity! Actually Nice for most of its life has been Italian and called Nizza. Get off the Train here and have a look round. This is a view of the rooftops of Old Nice........

........ This is a view from the other side of La Colline du Chateau onto the port of Nice.......

...... On La Colline du Chateau is a wonderful waterfall, visible from the town below or you can walk around it.

Now either walk down, take the lift down or catch the next Petit Train. Roller blades or skate boards would be cool too!

The Battle of the Flowers

The battle of the flowers is fascinating. Watch grown men fight over gladioli!

The famous Beau Rivage on the front at Nice from the Avenue des Anglais.

The Promenade des Anglais is where the English nobbs used to promenade during the late 19th. century. They still promenade there today, along with us voter fodder! (Me and politics - you don't want to know!)
